Goals

My biggest goal is life is to one day obtain a Ph.D and be able to teach Ethnic Studies classes at a community college, preferably Lane Community College. I know that is a big road ahead of me and steps must be taken to achieve that long-term goal. It is a goal not only for me but also for my parents and siblings, being the oldest I feel I have to be the role model for them, and also achieve what my parents sacrificed so much for. I will be the first in my family.

Step by Step Goals.

Honors Class- I will share my knowledge and as well learn from others. I am willing to learn everyone’s side of the story, and as well contribute to stories if I have some experience or knowledge. In that way we can all finish the class with more knowledge.

Lane Terms- I will try to achieve the highest grade possible in each class, and I will work hard to get an A or  an A+ if the class permits. My GPA right now is at 3.6 and my goal for Lane Community College is to be the first in my family to graduate college, and as well graduate with Honors.

Overall Academic Goal- By me being able to do good in the classrooms and obtain high grades I will be able to achieve my long-term goal of a Ph.D. degree. I have overcome a lot of obstacles in life and I know my sacrifices will have paid off. I will become the first in my family to graduate from a university with the highest known of degree.

Spring 2018 Goals – Graduate from Lane Community College with Honors. Dive into more research based studies. Get to know my classmates better, and build connections.

Update as of  Spring Term 2018 – I have been accepted into the University of Oregon, and have been granted The Ford Family Foundation ReStart Scholarship, which I was chosen out of 561 applicants. Being a DACA recipient funding for my education was the biggest weight on my shoulder. Today I know Ford will pay for 90% of my unmet financial need, they have lifted a big weight off my shoulder. I thank them for opening the scholarship to the Undocumented community and DACA recipients. I will achieve my parents dreams, because they are the original DREAMers.
